Cladistics
Cladistics is taking characteristics (anatomical, physiological or genetic) that are shared by organisms and then putting a hypothesis of how they came to occur in a cladogram
Cladistics makes 3 assumptions:
1. Change in characteristics occurs in lineages over time
2. Any group of organisms is related by descent from a common ancestor
3. There is a bifurcating branching pattern in lineage splitting
